Practical information

BEWARE OF ACCOMMODATION SCAM - Someone is taking names from this webpage, finding email addresses somewhere online, and sending you messages proposing accommodation in Grenoble for the workshop.  THOSE MESSAGES ARE NOTHING TO DO WITH US.  We ask you to reserve your own travel and accommodation via your favorite websites, see below. 

Traveling to Grenoble:

TRAIN: It is easy to get the Grenoble by train from Paris, Paris Charles-de-Gaulle (CDG) Airport,  Lyon, etc.

FLYING: The best airport is Lyon Saint Exupery (LYS), because it has shuttle buses to Grenoble every hour almost 24 hours per day. The shuttle bus (number X777) takes 1 hour and arrives at Grenoble bus station (just next to Grenoble main train station): https://www.flixbus.fr/voyages-car/grenoble-aeroport-de-lyon-saint-exupery 

Avoid Grenoble Airport (GNB) !!  It is a 40min drive from Grenoble with no access by public transport (and a taxi would be very expensive). 

Hotels: We believe that all hotels in downtown Grenoble are safe and clean. The conference venue is in the middle of the university campus (see below), so there are few hotels within walking distance. In contrast, there are many hotels near the train-station or near Place Victor Hugo (hyper-centre of Grenoble), both have direct access to the worshop venue via the tram B.

Check hotel reviews and prices         on your favourite websites.

Some hotels close to Tram B that we have used in the past (although some have since changed ownership):

• Some more basic options: Greet Hotel Grenoble Centre Gare, Hotel Gloria, Campanile Grenoble Centre Gare, Maison Barbillon Hotel
• Some medium options: Ibis Grenoble Centre Bastille, Ibis Style Grenoble Gare
• Slightly fancier (but affordable) options: Hotel d'Angleterre, Hotel de l'Europe, Grand Hotel Grenoble 

However, these are not specific recommendations, there are other hotels in similar locations of similar quality. Please check your favourite hotel websites for up-to-date reviews and prices. We also notice that the basic and fancier hotels often have similar prices online.

Getting to the workshop venue: The workshop will take place in the main amphitheatre of the MaCI building (Maison de la Création et de l'Innovation), which is the centre of the campus of the Université Grenoble Alpes in the suburb of Grenoble called "Saint-Martin-d'Hères".

From Grenoble downtown or Grenoble train station, the Tram B gets you to the workshop venue in 20-25 mins. There is a tram every 4-10 mins, and ticket-machines are at each tram stop. You scan the ticket on the blue box before entering tram (QR code face up), then you have 1 hour for travel on that ticket.

• Take Tram B in the direction of "GIERES Plaine des Sports" 
• Get off the tram at the stop "Gabriel Fauré - MUSE".
• The venue (Maison de la Création et de l'Innovation) is just next to the tram stop.
